For the third time, the SEVERNÍ (North) Hunting Association held its Shooting Day in early June. As has become tradition, ST8 members contributed equipment and expertise. This event takes place in the far north of the Czech Republic, right on the border with Germany. As usual, it attracts participants from both the Czech Republic and Germany. This time, however, something quite unusual happened—the entire event was subsidized by the European Regional Development Fund, so participants paid only a symbolic admission fee...

The event took place at the shooting range in the Lobendavský Quarry, which is practically in the middle of the hunting grounds. We were very lucky with the weather, and the natural surroundings here are simply beautiful.

We also had several interesting firearms on display, and of course, the ones used for shooting were interesting in their own right. Visitors received not only basic safety training but also a wealth of interesting information, provided in both Czech and German.

Shooting was conducted using 5 firearms at a target with 5 zones, and the total score was tallied. Specifically, these were:
CZUB Scorpion EVO – carbine
Smith & Wesson MP45 – pistol
CZUB CZ452 – bolt-action rimfire rifle with mechanical sights
Ruger American Rimfire Long Range Target – rimfire rifle with scope
Marlin 1895 – bolt-action rifle in a large caliber

In addition to the target shooting itself, we also had a laser shooting range - a simulator where both children and adults could try out various scenarios...

And for snacks, there were various game specialties available - including freshly smoked sausages 😉

The overall atmosphere was simply wonderful and friendly. We got together with interesting people from both sides of the border and put together a fun and educational day for them (not to mention those smoked sausages - they were simply delicious 🫠)

And here are the winners - the top finishers in the Junior, Lady, and Senior categories, as well as the top three overall.

In closing, on behalf of the SEVERNÍ Hunting Association, I would like to thank our partner organization in Germany, Klangmanufaktur Sebnitz; the town of Dolní Poustevna for its assistance and equipment; and Euroregion Neisse e.V. for its financial support, without which we would not have been able to organize an event like this.

I hope to see you again next year 😉
